Adia Victoria in Concert - Sold Out

  • The Hawthorne Barn 29 Miller Hill Road Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

Blues singer-songwriter and performer Adia Victoria will drop into Provincetown for a stripped-down performance as she tours the world to promote her new, critically acclaimed album, Silences, which she recorded with Aaron Dessner of The National. Throughout the album's twelve tracks, which are making “the blues dangerous again” (New York Times), Victoria addresses the topics of mental illness, drug addiction, sexism, and other challenges that consume the day-to-day lives of women attempting to make a world of their own.

Adia Victoria

Adia Victoria was vaulted into a very public life of touring and promotion following the widespread acclaim for her debut album, Beyond the Bloodhounds. As she reflects, "I found when I went back home that the thing that disturbed me the most was the lack of activity. Having to deal with myself once again on an intimate level." Reading and literature helped her find her way back in. The title of the new album is inspired by Tillie Olsen's Silences, which deals with the myriad ways in which the stories of oppressed people are persistently silenced.
